Derek Wong of Going The Wong Way tagged me with the Face Behind The Blog tag began by David Airey.
Yeah, I copied that first line from my associate blogger Ms. Q but she didn't give me a choice. She summed it up so well I knew I could not write a better opening.
A lot of folks have asked me to post a picture of myself. Some even thought I did post a picture of myself in my entry: GENCON 2006: Yes, there are girls at game conventions but I am not to be found there!
In fact I am very active on the net but I'm not one for photographs.
If you go to BoardGameGeek you will find this cute little kitten as my avatar. I also use it on the Kenzer forums. It is a picture of my cat Squirty when he was a small kitten. He is now a 16 pound ox with long hair and lots of love. If you even look at him he starts purring and heads right for your lap!
This is the avatar I use on sites such as Netscape, Digg and MyBlogLog. It is a thumbnail from a picture I got from a friend. It has a very nice tag line at the bottom: "One weekend a month my ass!" I use it because I like it, I am thinking of using Squirty's pic everywhere though...
If you really want a picture of me you will have to settle for this. This is me as a Mii, get it?
If you were thinking of doing a Google image search to find a picture of me, good luck! Even if you use my full name you will not find a picture of me!
Just think, I could be anybody... I could be the guy delivering the mail. I could be the guy picking up your trash. I could even be the guy listening in on your phone calls!
Maybe one day I'll post a real picture of myself... maybe.
The only person I can think to tag would be Baron from Baron.vc.

While Squirty is adorable (and I love good natured massive cats who want to jump on your lap and pin you down! Too bad I have allergies but I pet ‘em anyway) I like your military avatar just ‘cuz I am familiar with the tag line - seems to suit.
Of course, since I am filling in the blanks, I think of you as a former enlisted and so the avatar you use for MBL is the one I use as my image “base” - imagination is a good thing!
While knowing what a blogger looks like, I enjoy knowing them by their theme choice, the “tone” of their blog, all those clues that allow me to create my own image. Then again, I’m a reader - I don’t own a TV or even watch DVDs.
Sometimes knowing what someone looks like causes a disconnect - they don’t match what you had imagined at all. Some of course are dead on - I’m thinking of that really pink blog … you probably know which one!
Yeah, you could be anybody and that’s fine by me.
I can appreciate the ambiguity that you’re going for. There is a certain amount of freedom that you get from being able to be totally free to write without necessarily having any of it tie back to you.
That’s good for a lot of people on the Internet but then again, that’s the same mentality as the people in a mob. :P
I have seen the second avatar, and I have definitely made some type of association between you and it. The cat and Mii add new ideas to that association.
Even as an anonymous blogger, thanks for responding to the tag. It was interesting to see how you’d respond.
It’s not that I am against showing my face (the mii is spot on) it’s just that I do not have many photographs of myself.
I am the third of three boys and as a father once told me, “You take a lot of pictures of your first born because it’s a new experience. You take about half as many of the second born. By the time the third kid comes out you’re thinking, ‘haven’t I already seen this show before?’”
Eric, I accidently deleted your comment while going through my spam comments. I don’t know why it got caught but I hit the wrong button and lost it before I could read it. Please repost it.
LOL, no problem. I really enjoy your site, I’m really glad that I stumbled onto it when I did, and I was wondering how you got started with blogging? I’ve been toying with the idea of creating my own blog, I tend to rant at my friends at times about various topics, and I thought it might be rather fun to put some of my thoughts down in writing - I’m sure there’s probably at least one person out there who might read what I have to say. My main questions were: How did you start with your blog? and do you have any tips, thoughts, advice, anything like that that could help me out? I enjoy writing, I’ve written for years (mainly fiction though, some short stories and what-not that I’ve written since high school) but I’ve never done anything like this, and like I said I think it could be fun and an interesting experience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time!
This sounds like a blog post! Stay tuned.
Excellent, I can’t wait! Thank you again!
What? No digital camera?
I wondered if the mii was representative (I do have some kinda visual of your “sharkboy” hair) but hadn’t imagined facial hair.
I actually get a few searches a day via my full name and always wonder how the hell if checking in on me…
Thanks for joining in and showing us your avatars. ;)
I have complete respect for anyone who wants to keep their anonymity and enjoyed your write up for the tag.
Bye for now.

Total copout! A whole article, 2 avatars and one mii of Kevin Smith is not enough. At least post some picture of you in a crowd and make us guess…the whole 3rd born thing is also hardly an excuse…
Once I get that other site off the ground, the one about cats (hint, hint) that I told you about? I’ll post a picture of me there.
