Here is a quick (cropped) screen cap of my work on the new theme.

The color scheme will be red/black and there will be rounded corners (among other things). I'm also going to use excerpts on the front page and utilize my footer space better than I do now. The basic design scheme is four column even though you will not see four columns.
Let me know what you think of the new header.
Constructive criticism.
The header looks like a lot of photoshop filters gone wrong. The bright red and black look like they’re clashing and it just doesn’t have a professional feel.
That’s just my opinion.
Yeah I must admit that I like the muted tones of this current theme more than I like the starkly contrasting tones of that header. It seems like it’s going to be too dramatic of an effect. Like Manthem previously said, it seems like it’s more along the lines of a personal website (which I suppose it is) rather than a “professional” website.
I like the colours in this theme, but it looks like some of the text is hanging out on the right side. I am sure you can easily correct it.
Yow! I “go away” for a few days and seems like every blog I visit has got a new theme! Jeez. I find the red flames/electricity jarring – it makes me tense. I like the fade-out steel look of “HMTK”
If you’re thinking of flames and black the image image that came to mind was having this steel bar/arrow fading out horizontally from HMTK. This made me think of a blade which made me think of a sword which made me think of dragons.
So maybe some type of very stylized dragon (like on shield/coat of arms) or even a “Transformer” type of dragon and then the electrical flames. I dunno. I guess I’m harkening back to your gaming background. But tech/gaming/computers with stories just put those images in my head.
I like font size and font for categories. Not sure about the colors, figure you’re still tweaking.
Sidebar header text is a bit too far to the left in Firefox.
