This morning I posted a short resume on Craigslist and made a small mistake. I left a period after the URL I listed and it caused a few people to end up here, on the blog, instead of on my software page.
All I can say is "oops" and I should have caught that.
In case you are wondering why I'm looking for a new job I'll make it very simple:
My current employer has just put out a basic "buyout" offer on the table. If I can find a better job in two weeks I'll take the money and go elsewhere. If not, I'll just stay where I am now.

Hi Steve,
Your reviewMe rating has gone up sharply, what happened there? Not boosting it as suggested on JC are you :-)
After considering what the buyer is getting (a perpetual link on a high PR blog) I decided that I had to raise my price.
I will discuss, in a later post, why I feel this way.
I will be interested to read it.
Ive only done one reviewMe, for which I received the princely sum of $20, in terms of SEO my blog was very relevant in terms of content and, if it was SEO they were after as opposed to traffic then they got a very good deal.
To make matters worse, another reviewer was scaping my images, I updated htaccess accordingly, but I was really annoyed, they got paid to do a review and went off scraping….
Their review will show an advert for my site later this evening.
Care to post the links?
Hello again,
I copied the .htaccess into the sub directory and blocked them again, Im not sure why but my comments seem to be moderated at the mo, Im sure my details are the same, do you also check IP’s??
Anyway,

Steve, good luck on your search!
Jez, I see that they have taken out the hot link image already. Everything is fine now? :)
I moved my .htaccess down into a lower directory and it stopped it, previously having it in a higher directory did the job, Im not sure why I had to move it dows… but its ok now.
Steve, definitely let us know about your ReviewMe rates ;) If you are writing a couple of these reviews each month, I see that you would become a full time blogger!
Here is my review:

They have now made a change, so despite my .htaccess they are scraping my image again.
My .htacces reads as follows:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www.)?howtogetafirst.co.uk/.*$ [NC]
RewriteRule .(gif|jpg|jpeg|png|bmp)$ - [F]
This was working yesterday, I am not sure what they have changed to overcome it.
Yep, just looked at their source code, they are borrowing your image.
As far as the period goes… oops, done that.
Yeah, I just feel stupid because my resume mentions HTML experience… I was trying to show good grammer by putting a period at the end of the sentence and the online editor on craigslist saw it as part of the url…
Serves me right for not double-checking!
If not for sitemeter stats I never would have known!
I know some folks did click on the link in the resume so… did arriving here, on the blog, have any influence on them?
Good luck finding a job! Craigslist is a great place to start. My dad hired a guy within 2 weeks of putting something up :D
@Jaz
Thanks for pointing this out.
We apologise for this as this was completely unintentional.
You can check it again.

I dont think it was un-intentional, you ran a search for other reviews to find the site, then had to “view image” and copy my URL into your post.
That said I accept you have a number of writers so dont have the control over things that smaller sites do.
Thanks for taking the time to reply and taking it out.
