Midburg, the old manor house
Back in 2613 the town of Midburg was first founded. In the year 2624 the Hazan family began construction on a manor house overlooking the bay.
The Hazan's were a family from the far away lands of the Mulat nation and were one of the many merchant houses eager to stake a claim to the new lands liberated by Rygel Smith after the pirate wars. Bringing with him his two eldest sons Fela Hazan decided to settle in the newly founded town of Midburg. He felt that this small town on the northern shore would one day become an important center for trade and thusly prove a very valuable location to live.
After building several warehouse and part of the warf, Fela and his sons turned their eyes back to the mainland and sent word for their families to come over and join them, at the same time they began construction of a manor house overlooking the bay.
Shortly after the arrival of the family members the manor was completed and all moved in. For over fifty years the Hazan family dominated the local fishing industry and held great power with the local politicians.
All that came to an end in the summer of 2694. Although stories are vague of what preceded the fall of the Hazan family, the family did fall. Almost overnight the once beautiful manor house was ravaged. Windows were broken, doors knocked down and sections of the grounds were burned to ashes.
Some people say a mysterious man in black arrived with orders from the emperor to remove the Hazan family from Midburg, others whisper that the Black Death came to call. Although no one knows for certain what caused the destruction of the family, it was complete. Midburg took control of the Hazan families assets and sold them off to the highest bidders, except for the ruined manor.
No one wanted the house and none would approach it to destroy it. Many late night travelers reported seeing strange lights upon the cliff which the house sat upon and every few years someone would be dared to spend the night there. Those who did, did not always return.
So the house still sits, old and decayed, a blight upon the cliffs of Midburg. This is where you come in, for the sum of 200 gold pieces you and you're friends have been dared to spend the night in the old manor house. If you are still alive and well at dawn you win, if not, the house will claim more victims.
