Wii Sports Baseball: Tips and Tricks

So, you think you're Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron? Listen up water boy 'cause you ain't nothing unless you know how to hit the ball.
In Wii Sports Baseball you have a team of players that you control in a short three inning game of baseball. Well, you don't exactly control them as all you do is pitch the ball and bat. the outfielders, infielders and runners all do their own thing.
Batting
Not much to say here. You just swing the Wii-mote like a baseball bat. Some pitches require a little bit of english on the swing to hit them. If you hit the ball early you will hit it left, hit it late and it goes right. Send it far enough left or right and you get a foul. Fouls count as strikes unless you already have two strikes.
Pitching
With pitching you have a lot more options.
- Control Pad - use this to aim where you want the ball to go.
- A Button - Screwball
- B Button - Curveball
- A+B Button - Splitter
Tips
When you swing the bat from low to high you can often get the ball to travel further. Watch out for the splitter pitches though as they are very hard to hit. If your opponent keeps pitching splitters just bunt. If they still keep throwing splitters than whack him with a wiffle ball bat a few times until he learns his lesson!
When you are pitching throw splitters! They are hard to hit and, as long as your opponent has not read this, you will beat him!
I have also found that aiming curveballs and screwballs with an extra tap of the control pad so that they almost hit the batter is also a great way to land some strikes! Just be careful though and don't throw two of the same pitch in a row once you start playing at the Pro level 'cause the computer player will hit them!

It takes a lot out of it when you don’t have to position the guys or anything to make the catch. Too bad they don’t let you take over control to increase difficulty.
I got 9 home runs.
Bah! Bunting splitters! Why didn’t I think of that? I almost always ground out to the second baseman or shortstop when I get thrown a splitter. I’ll give the bunt a try
I hit 8 homers in the first inning alone. Just sit on the fastball the computer eventually lays one right down the middle.
another tip for splitters, just dont hit them, i have never had a person or cpu pitch a splitter and it not been a strike unless i tryed 2 hit it, and it is possable to hit them b4 they break down, you just have 2 swing early :P
p.s. if you swing up, u will almost always hit a homer, i hit 12 n the first inning doing this, but dont swing up too high or you hill pop it up
yo ,thanks 4 the tips. After reading your tips i played baseball in nintendo wii and the results were 38-7. I improved by +157 skill points and now i’m a pro.

Nice tips, my skill level is now 3032, no kidding, in one match i threw 14 strikes and had 21 home runs, the final score was 35-1. Plus, i played a level 3500 CPU player and they sucked! I beat them by 34 points! They kept dropping the ball and in training mode, in the first baseball excercise, i hit the ball 253 Meters. Thats like OVER the stadium.

You are making way too much of the splitter pitch. My advice, throw it as a strikeout pitch when you really need a strikeout. If you throw it too much you will be screwed; this is why:
1) It’s easy to spot, it doesn’t spin.
2) 90% of the time it’s a ball; anyone who even casually plays Wii Baseball will identify it and just let it float by. The only way you can get someone to swing and miss it is to surprise them (SO DON’T THROW IT ALL THE TIME)
3) Probably a good 20% of the time, the pitch will not be a splitter and will instead float at 70 mph right over the plate. If that wasn’t bad enough, an exclamation point will appear over the pitcher’s head telling the batter you just f$#%ed up.
Remember, you don’t need the splitter. You can get ANYBODY out with confidence, and properly mixing speeds (don’t ever let the hitter get comfortable with one speed).
Best of Luck!
how do you bunt?
