Press the "B" button to bring up the menu.
Use the control pad to scroll down to "Save"
Press the "A" button.
Confirm the save.
Once the game is saved you will get a confirmation message that the game has saved. If you get this message and the game is still not saving you have a bad cartridge.

Hi,

My son just got Pokemon Pearl and Diamond for Nintendo DS, and he loves them, but he's frustrated because if he turns it off, he has to start almost from the beginning, even though he says he's hitting some "save" feature before shutting his game off. Is there a way to save the game on DS at the level he's at so he can just pick up where he left off? I appreciate any help, he's only 8 years old and I don't have a lot of experience with Nintendo DS or these new Pokemon games.

Thanks in advance!
Tony

I hated it when new versions of games would change their save styles. The later Tomb Raiders went to save spots instead of save as needed. Yeah, it's tougher which is good but at the wrong spot in the game it can be a really aggrevator.

My wife will literally murder me if I bring another controller to the house! I'll stick to the NES games until I can muster up the energy to get rid of one of my old consoles.

It depends on the game.

Classic NES games will use the Wii-mote (hold it sideways and it works just like the old NES controller).

Other games require either the Wii classic controller or a GameCube controller. I have four GameCube controllers, you can figure it out from there ;)

If I recall correctly level 6 was the hardest.
Off (or on) topic, do you need a special controller to play the virtual console games or can you use the wii-mote?

I picked up SMB through the Wii Virtual Console and I have to agree. The first two worlds of SMB are a permanent part of my brain! I think I have played those two levels more than any others in the game.

I think I might try and play the game straight through one of these nights. Because of the warp tubes I don't think I ever played any of the levels you could warp past!

I grew up with the first NES. There's nothing more frustrating than having to start Super Mario Bros. over and over again until you beat the game. At some stage I could play the first 2 levels with my eyes closed.
Then again, 13 year olds have all the time in the world...
