I'm not sure if you could combine some of those or not but there's a ton of them and I'm not sure there's any benefit to having that many. The main thing that's missing is the comment count on the home page. I like to scroll down the home page and if I see there are comments, if there are I click on the permalink to read them. I'll be happy to send you the code to add them back in. The footer is nice. I personally like things nice and clean, the new theme is a bit loud for my taste, but it's a welcome change nontheless.
