I have beautiful, older oak flooring in part of my house that needs to be refinished. I want to put new oak down in the rest at the same time. I am concerned that they will take stain differently. I am thinking I will have to pick different color stains.

The floor is complete, I just need to go through the photographs and write up the story.

Yes, it is nice to be able to afford to pay someone else to do the work but, it would have cost around $1500 to hire workers to do the job! I had the time and the know-how so why not just do it myself?

I agree on the painting. I recently did a lot of painting and it can be a real pain.

Dang. While it's good to be Handy, it sure is nice to be able to afford to hire professionals, that's fer shure! I once taped and draped my kitchen and spent 2 weekends carefully painting it and not getting the cabinets and floor and such dribbled. This was a rental and I was on the road a lot and could only paint it on the weekend.

My shoulders hurt and arms and neck..stiff. When it got to the living room which wasn't as taping-intensive I thought, ugh. I cannot deal with this. And I ended up calling a handyman friend who had better tools and I went outta town and came back to a nicely painted living and bedroom. Glad I could afford it and it was worth it!

A Canon G9? A friend has that model - LOVES it.
