A few weeks ago I asked if you were ready to rumble. Are you?
What was that? You would like to rumble but you don't have a Wii?
Well now, I can't fault you for that so here is what I am going to do. See the image of the boxing glove over there (and in the sidebar)? HMTK and a few other blogs are taking part in a promotion to draw some attention to the upcoming Wii-exclusive release of Ready 2 Rumble Revolution. What sort of promotion you say? It's a promotion that I know will interest you, my faithful readers.
Before I tell you more about the promotion let me recap what I told you before about the game:
- Features
- A roster of 18 wildly caricatured cartoony boxers, all parodies of celebrities from the worlds of sports, music and movies who enter the ring as larger-than-life "Rumble-ized" versions of themselves. Players will step right up and see if they can knock these super-sized egos down a peg or two!
- Hosted by "The Voice of the Champions" Michael Buffer, famous for his "Let's Get Ready to Rumble" trademark call.
- Characters are brought to life with hilarious moves, detailed facial animations, damage textures and fighting techniques including special moves, combos, extreme knockdowns and special "Rumble" combos.
- An all new Championship Mode lets gamers create their own unique boxer and nurture his skills through mini-games, developing him as a fighter and creating a completely personalized Ready 2 Rumble Revolution experience.
- Delivers a fun and intuitive experience in either single player or multiplayer mode.
- The Wii controllers provide would-be pugilists with an intuitive and realistic feel. Using the Nunchuk controller as one glove and the Wii Remote controller as the other, players dodge, weave and throw the big punches to KO their opponents.
Yep, we're talking about a real good fighting game with just enough comedy thrown in to have you and your buds squirting Red Bull out of your noses! So where does the Wii and the promotion come in?
Here's the deal. You click on the boxing glove image and it will open up a new browser tab/window with details on the game straight from IGN. You take a few minutes to read about the game and then you come back here and leave a comment about the game.
The comment need not be a four page essay but it also should not be something lame like:
"Cool game!" or "Awesome!" Leave a comment that lets me know you actually looked over the IGN article enough to form some sort of an opinion. Even if that opinion is, "oh man, this game looks horrible!" Though if you do think the game looks horrible please explain why. Developers are people too you know and hearing something sucks without being told why is just a waste of time. So if you are going to criticize the game please do it in a constructive manner so that the developers can learn from their mistake.
So, let me recap:
1. Click on the glove.
2. Read about the game.
3. Post a comment here on the blog.
The contest is due to end in March and if we get enough clicks on the glove to win one of the Wii systems (5 will be given away in total) I will in turn pass it along to someone who left a comment on the blog.
What's that? Why would I give away a Wii? Two reasons:
1. I already have one.
2. I think this game is going to be good and I consider it penance for posting those articles a while back that said Alone in the Dark for the Wii was going to be great (it wasn't).

this game looks pretty cool, but the graphics aren’t all that good…
I wasn’t too excited about this game from the last contest thing, but reading through that article made me think it looks like a neat game. I love that the boxers show real damage, and, the Elvis guy’s toupee can fall off?! Hilarious–things like that make it a game that my parents would enjoy playing too, which, with Mom at least, you don’t find a lot, ha ha. And that last paragraph, about how it’s expected to be much better than Wii Sports’ boxing, excites me, b/c I have a terrible time with that. Not saying I’ll be any better with this, but it looks promising and fun, even if I do get pummeled. LOL

Interesting may be worth a play if the controls are as good as in wii sports.
I clicked it:)
The game looks interesting, but I can see where the motion controls could go wrong….:(
I’m still exited that another decent game for the Wii is coming out:)
The graphics look like the graphics from street fighter from back in the day. Looks like it could be some fun. if you enjoy boxing in wii sports it should be a blast for you. over all i would give it based on photos and info a 8.7 out of 10.
Hmmm…doesn’t look too shabby… random glowy purple gloves and all… I do agree with the motion controls thing… if they are made wrong, there goes the game too…
I think the game looks like quite a bit of fun, I love the idea of the specialty moves and combos and the games backgrounds look really neat. I would have to agree with a couple of the other commentators here is that the graphics do look a bit poor.
I looked over most of the pictures on their site and noticed with most of the characters you can see a lot of rough pixels around the edges. There is really no excuse for bad graphics these days, we have the technology to make these characters seem like they are ready to pop out of the screen.
I also would compare it to the old street fighter or something, but I think it resembles that simply because of the one character in shorts that was in the first images.
Overall, it should be pretty cool and I look forward to trying it out.

I read it. Sounds cool
I usually prefer games with more of a good story to them, and am not a fan of boxing in real life, but I think that this game might be fun in the way that games like Sonic and Mario at the Olympics are fun… Basically exercise that doesn’t feel nearly as much like exercise, if that makes sense. A great way to get some exercise in without being totally miserable – entertaining exercise! And the gags and what-not make it even better. I don’t know if it will be worth the standard $50 price tag, since it seems to be lacking in a few things (story, graphics, variety), but nonetheless I’m sure it will be successful.
This game looks like it could be very interesting. I haven’t played a boxing game I really enjoyed since Super Punch-Out, but this looks right inline. A good mix of humor and action should keep the replay value moderately high. I’ve read what some of the others have said about the graphics but I think they pulled off an interesting style with this game. I have an associates degree in art and 3D rendering so I maybe a little biased in my opinion lol. I do agree though that the rough pixels around the edges could and should be improved, there’s no excuse for that in our hi-tech day and age.
Despite what everyone else has said, these graphics seem pretty impressive to me, especially considering the speed the characters will probably be moving when throwing punches. Having Michael Buffer as commentator will also add an aspect to the game that is new and different from most other games. The special moves and combos will also bring this game soaring above Wii Sports Boxing. Overall, this game looks pretty cool, though I’m not sure I want to buy it for $40.

I’m not so sure about this game. I have a feeling that it should be pretty cool, but the goal of a realistic feel on the Wii might be reaching too high. It should be better than Wiiboxing, but the cartoony characters and such give me a feeling that the hardware isn’t up to snuff. (But I could be wrong about all of this). All in all, it’ll be a fun game to play for a bit, but in all likelyhood, not worth the money.
The ‘comical’ style seems a bit extreme (charactachures come to mind), though my own taste in “Teehee, that’s silly” is Zak from DoA in his silver Teletubie suit. I am curious to find out if they did a good job (or decient at least) picking voices for the characters (assuming they have voices at all) as it seems that the voices could make or break the graphical image the developers have gone with.
As far as fighting games go, the concept seems simple. While it may or may not have any form of rpg/story mode (such as in Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat) you can’t go wrong with the blunt “burst their ego” reasoning.
The graphics look pretty good and the game seems funny and enjoyable. Could be a bit dangerous if lots of people were playing in a small space though lol
I wish I would have know about this contest. Although it looks like I am not the only one who missed it.
Love boxing games — and always loved this game— looks great on the wii – can’t wait to play it
