This idea is absurd. I really don't see what a bloggers union would do since we are our own bosses, as you say, and don't have to answer to anyone really. What exactly should we be asking for? I just don't get it.

The funny thing to me (ironic) is that these same lib bloggers are the first to cry out about how GWB is selling out their freedom for security yet... What are they doing here? They are trying to sell out their own freedom for the security of a paycheck or sometihng.

OMG! Now "left wing" and "right wing" have crept into the fabric of the last bastion of relatively propaganda free media. I wonder if us bloggers could possibly redefine terms like "union" to better suit our needs for at least?

Hmm - It would be nice to be like a government paid blogger though, wouldn't it Steve? I could submit one post and then go play CS or Medieval War for 5 hours. The flip side would be all of us realizing we could spend the hundreds of hours working part time as Walmart and make some real money. LOL

Let's help each other achieve what we want to achieve and then go buy our own insurance policy. But PLEASE let's not put that donkey or elephant up as a symbol for what this is.

Great article BTW! Good Cop or Bad Cop - which party are you with?

A Union??? For BLOGGERS??!!

Wow. What fresh idiocy is this?? To paraphrase D. Parker (I believe). And like you said, entitled to what, exactly? Personally, I don't want unionization and regulation and scrutinization of my freedom of speech or monetization thereof.

Why care about "raising blogging standards??" This means you have to come up with standards. What raises standards? Public demand. Some people want to read about personal development, other people want to see the latest anorexic photos of starlets entering rehab for the 9th time.

Then how will regulations and unions be managed? Uh...fees? Uh...taxes??

Then there will be talk about the "Under-Wired" - those without access to the Internet. The Underwired will be provided with access via subsidies and government programs.

Seriously slapping my forehead right now.

I would have to agree whole heartedly. basically echoing what Steve is saying here, what this comes down to is that anything that could potentially regulate or control the content in any blog would be a disservice to the whole concept of blogging.
